New Skillz

Did I mention he finally says mama? It’s more of a maaamaamaamaamaamaa whenever I leave the room, he wants out of his highchair, or is grumpy, tired or otherwise unhappy. Speaking of high chair, he recently learned how to stand up in it (despite the 3 pronged safety belt). Once he’s done or bored, he spends the rest of his effort trying to brute force his way out of the highchair.
The neverending food pile

I realized that Avery eats more if he thinks he’s about to finish everything off. So I keep adding a little to the food pile. He starts getting smart and selectively choosing the cubes of cheese and fruit that he likes best.
I didn't do it.

After the playing with flour for a while, after being covered with teething biscuit, and self-feeding some prunes we took him straight to the bath with prune pieces still attached. After an initial wash down to get the flour, I started draining the water to get out all the flour. It didn’t seem like it was draining as quickly as usual, so I felt around the drain hole to see what was up. I felt something squishy, so I pulled it out thinking it was a piece of prune. Well, it was not. Apparently, those prunes had gone to work quickly, it was a poop! I’m thinking about going to scrub my hand again.
Number two.

Avery has been quite a, well, pain in the ass lately. Poor guy. Tooth number two can be felt now and he’s not feeling too thrilled about the whole teething endeavor. And I think he may be coming down with a little cold again (runny nose, a little more coughing than I’d like). Needless to say, this was his general expression most of today:
Almost a kiddo already.

MmmMmm. Avocados.
September 27th, 2007
Avery attempted to grab the spoon mid-flight. He then proceeded to take his avocado covered hand and rub his face and eyes. And I thought babies only had sticky hands..
Also, this (below) is what happens when you switch up the spoons of avocados and bananas (loves) with fava beans (not so much). I think the picture speaks for itself.
The dogs are starting to cash in on this whole baby thing.

Avery started eating some finger foods a week or two ago (little cubes of cheese, fruit, teething biscuits). As you can see, the dogs have figured out that beneath the highchair is a good place to sit. In fact, I have caught Mia licking Avery’s teething biscuit, but I think he’s been offering it to her because he knows it gets them to come over. Mia has even stolen it from him when he’s hanging it over the side not paying attention. Nadia is such a good dog though. She sucks up to him and sits and waits for him to give her a treat because she’s being such a good sitter.
